A Timeless Classic Golf Course in the Heart of the Algarve
The Old Course Golf in Vilamoura is often regarded as the “Grande Dame” of Algarve golf. Designed in 1969 by Frank Pennink, this course has a classic parkland layout with tree-lined fairways, mature pine forests, and elevated greens.
Its timeless appeal makes it a favorite among both seasoned golfers and visitors looking to enjoy a historic and visually appealing course.
Course Overview
Old Course is a par-73 layout stretching over 6,000 meters. The course emphasizes precision, course management, and strategic thinking rather than sheer power. Key features include:
* Narrow, tree-lined fairways that challenge off-the-tee accuracy
* Small, contoured greens requiring delicate touch
* Well-placed bunkers and natural obstacles that add variety
* Signature holes such as the par-3 12th and par-4 18th, which showcase mature trees and scenic vistas
Its parkland style ensures a peaceful and elegant golfing experience, allowing players to enjoy the Algarve’s natural beauty while testing their skills.
