An Iconic Algarve Golf Experience Featuring Europe’s Most Photographed Hole
The Vale do Lobo Royal Course is one of the Algarve’s most prestigious and iconic golf layouts. Famous for its dramatic cliff-top 16th hole - a par-3 requiring a carry over a stunning red-sandstone ravine
Vale do Lobo Royal Course offers moments that stay with golfers for a lifetime.
Originally designed by Sir Henry Cotton and significantly redeveloped by Rocky Roquemore, the Royal Course delivers a challenging yet visually spectacular round that epitomizes the region’s reputation for world-class golf.
Course Overview
At par-72 and approximately 6,200 meters, the Royal Course features a mix of pine-framed fairways, lakeside challenges, and dramatic coastal holes. Its strategic design appeals to experienced golfers seeking a blend of technical complexity and scenic inspiration.
Key features include:
* Narrower fairways than the Ocean Course
* Elevated, contoured greens
* Water hazards that come into play on several holes
* A demanding back nine with signature cliff-top scenery
The standout is undeniably the 16th hole, where golfers must strike confidently across a deep ravine, guided only by the sound of waves below and the sight of the Atlantic stretching out ahead.
